Holidays

This morning, as one does, I was chatting idly to several friends in Australia - it was by this new-fangled device called a telephone.

You can imagine my surprise when they told me that they have a public holiday tomorrow. I checked it in my diary and yes, they're right, except that it doesn't apply to Western Australia. You'll never guess what the holiday's for in a month of Sundays.

I am utterly astonished to discover that the holiday's for the Queen's birthday. For an extra holiday, even I'd be a monarchist. And do we, on Airstrip One, get a holiday for the Queen's birthday? You can bet your life we don't. OK, so I'm still a republican.
