Warring ability

The BBC reports the retiring UK defence chief's views thus
Admiral Sir Michael Boyce says the UK's forces need time to "draw breath" and could not easily go to war for 18 months. Read more here.
The shadow defence secretary Patrick Jenkin on 'Today' today, was sufficiently liberal in his interpretation of Sir Michael's words to say that we couldn't go to war for two years.

The right sentiments, Michael, but couldn't you have made it 100 years? Just think of all the leftie peaceniks who'd vote Conservative in the light of that sort of statement.

Sir Michael's analysis is very worrying. I do hope that Argentina (eyes still on The Falklands, I fear) and Spain (lusting after Gibraltar) weren't listening.
