Forthcoming elections in Iraq

The Onion has a good take on the forthcoming Iraqi 'elections' here. But I do wish that they would take the matter more seriously.

For my part, I have meanwhile been trying to think up appropriate election slogans, just in case there is one. The advice that I think we shall be hearing most often is
Vote for the Islamist to keep the stooge(s) and the crook(s) out
Thus, as Iraq becomes a fundamentalist, Islamic state, one will perhaps begin to hear Donald Rumsfeld say 'Saddam (Happy Birthday, my friend - it was a mistake - we were only joking); you weren't so bad after all.'
