Barry Sheene's achievement

Barry Sheene (no relation to Martin Sheen), has just died from cancer in Australia. In case you don't know, he was Britain's former 500cc motorcycle World champion. To my mind, this is not his greatest achievement.

In a TV interview some years ago, the interviewer showed Sheene some footage of the motorcyclist as he bounced along the track after a horrific high-speed racing accident. This incident resulted in umpteen broken bones, at least one in every limb. The interviewer asked him if, in the light of the accident, he ever felt worried or frightened. "Never!" the ace replied, "It wasn't my fault I came off".

This answer must rate as one of the finest non sequiturs ever uttered. It's worthy of the laziest politician. But what amazing self-confidence.
