H M The Q in Canada

I see that the Queen has been very well received in Canada. A TV interview with a 'member of the Canadian public' revealed that the Canadians, notably in British Columbia and Vancouver, are very attached to the monarchy in general and her maj. in particular. Apparently, having a queen serves further to distinguish Canada from its large, tough, republican neighbour to the south - an understandable sentiment.

Given this degree of attachment, would Canada (Deputy PM John Manley excepted) like to make us an offer for the institution, the current incumbent, and all the hangers on? Personally, I'd accept ten pence and give indefinite, interest-free credit.

[Note: John Manley wants to end the monarchy, silly boy. You can read a bit about Brenda's visit to Canada here.]
