Blair's speech to the TUC

Despite many interesting things in his speech, Blair has just repeated the rubbish that UN weapons inspectors were evicted from Iraq. His exact word were: 'When the weapons inspectors were evicted from Iraq in 1998...' Competent and informed journalists should give him what for.

If you repeat a lie often enough, it doesn't become the truth; if it's a mistake, you're a disgrace, Tony. Whatever the reason for the 'inaccuracy', be aware that, if you tell obvious untruths, some of the people are not going to be fooled all of the time. If you don't get checkable facts right, how can we accept anything else you say?

For the umpteenth time, the inspectors were withdrawn.

[For obvious reasons, no posts tomorrow.]
