Cross-border trade between North and South Korea

Today's Seoul Daily reports that plans are advanced for cross-border commercial traffic between the two countries - there will be no immediate official traffic involving personnel. Phew.

It is greatly to be hoped that the South Korean authorities are consulting their opposite numbers in France. These are the people who are dealing so effectively with the efflux (sounds better than effluence, doesn't it?) of refugees aboard trains from France through the Channel Tunnel to a better life on Airstrip One.

One has to ask, in all seriousness, if the South Korean economy will be able to cope with the expected loss of manpower.
